Beyond Sport, a global organisation that promotes, develops and funds the use of sport to effect positive social change throughout the world, has awarded its SA PR mandate for the Beyond Sport Summit and Awards to marcusbrewster.

marcusbrewster’s Cape Town office will handle the media relations and accreditation for the Beyond Sport Summit and Awards, taking place in Cape Town between 5-8 December 2011. The programme for the event includes influential figures from the worlds of sport, business, politics and philanthropy, who will explore sport’s role in social change.

“Having influential, global leaders gather under the shadow of Table Mountain, recently named as one of the provisional New7Wonders of Nature, is another coup for the City of Cape Town,” says San Reddy, Managing Director of marcusbrewster.

“Beyond Sport brings together hundreds of projects from all around the world, all looking to tell their own unique stories and pass on their own very special experiences. It is vital for us to help them do that, and marcusbrewster’s deep understanding of Beyond Sport and the South African media makes them the perfect partner for the Summit and Awards in Cape Town this December,” says Nick Keller, Founder of Beyond Sport.

Highlights of the four-day programme will include the Rt. Hon. Tony Blair, Chairman of the Beyond Sport Ambassadors, and four-time Olympic gold medallist Michael Johnson addressing the gathering, and bringing their own extensive experience to the table.

On the third day of the summit, a unique panel of South African stars will discuss the intersection of sport, music and film around social change. Actress and television presenter Vanessa Haywood, musician Danny K, and former Bafana Bafana captain Lucas Radebe, will focus on the challenges currently facing our country, where a world-class sport and entertainment industry is juxtaposed with some of the globe’s most serious social issues.

marcusbrewster is the UK-based PRCA’s 2010 Global PR Consultancy of the Year: South Africa.  Earlier this year, the firm set a new PRISM Award record at the 2011 ceremony, with 14 wins across 11 category specialisations.
